Clairemont Water Store sells prepay plans for purified water at 3077 Clairemont Dr, Ste 105, San Diego, CA 92117: 100 gallons for $70 (70¢ a gallon), 200 gallons for $130 (65¢ a gallon), 300 gallons for $180 (60¢ a gallon), against a walk-up rate of 75¢ a gallon. A plan is not a subscription — nothing is charged monthly, nothing renews, and the balance never expires with regular use. Every plan includes 10% off accessories, and your first plan includes a complimentary first fill. Plans are bought in person at the counter, daily from 10 AM to 2 PM and 3 PM to 7 PM, and the balance is drawn at the indoor water bar — not at the 24-hour outdoor machine, which takes coins and cash. Alkaline water is priced separately at $2.50 a gallon, takes no discounts, and cannot be bought with a plan.

What a plan is, and is not
A prepay plan is a block of gallons bought at the counter, not a membership. There is no monthly charge, no card kept on file, no auto-renewal and nothing to cancel — the only thing that happens is that your gallons come off a balance instead of out of your wallet one fill at a time. It is the same water at a better rate for buying it in bulk.
That is also why we do not sell plans online. You start one in person, we set the balance up at the counter, and your first plan includes a complimentary first fill.
What a plan covers
Plans are sold as gallons of our nine-stage purified water, which walks up at 75¢ a gallon — a 5-gallon jug is $3.75 without a plan. Alkaline water at around pH 9.5 is a separate product at $2.50 a gallon — it takes no discounts and a plan balance cannot be spent on it. If alkaline is most of what you fill, a plan will not save you anything, and we would rather say so than sell you one.
Balances are drawn at the indoor water bar during store hours. They do not work at the 24-hour outdoor water vending machine, which takes coins and cash — worth knowing if you usually come by after we close.
Common questions
How do prepay water plans work?
You buy a block of gallons up front at the counter and draw against it whenever you come in. A 100-gallon plan is $70, which works out to 70¢ a gallon instead of the 75¢ walk-up rate. Nothing is charged monthly and nothing renews — when the balance runs out you buy another block or go back to paying per fill.
Is a prepay plan a subscription?
No. There is no monthly charge, no card on file and nothing to cancel. You pay once for the gallons and use them at your own pace.
How much do prepay plans save?
100 gallons for $70 is 70¢ a gallon and saves $5 against the walk-up rate; 200 gallons for $130 is 65¢ a gallon and saves $20 against the walk-up rate; 300 gallons for $180 is 60¢ a gallon and saves $45 against the walk-up rate. A household filling two 5-gallon jugs a week goes through about 520 gallons a year, so the 60¢ rate is where the plans matter most.
Does my prepay balance expire?
Your balance never expires with regular use. It is gallons you have already paid for, not a coupon with a date on it.
Can I use a prepay balance at the 24-hour outdoor machine?
No. The outdoor vending machine takes coins and cash only. Prepay balances are drawn at the indoor water bar during store hours.
Can I use a prepay plan for alkaline water?
